An intimate and poetic performance in which animation and music meet to create laughter, sorrow and beauty.
Courthouse Arts is very proud to bring Carte Blanche, from Denmark to Geelong. In March, audiences will have the opportunity to see an amazing piece of theatre from Denmark.
"I had a certain dissatisfaction with what you would call "reality" and a burning desire to bewitch and transform. The whole mythological wisdom of childhood was at my service. Songs, laughter, dreams, tears. A rush, a sleep that calls me again and again."
Herman Hesse
The performance is situated in an abandoned attic where a little human being is hiding from reality in her own fantasy world. All alone. Except for the company of a strange playmate - a puppet's head in search of a body. Together these two creatures create a fabulous stream of images, games and memories jumping from the things they find in the old trunks and suitcases at the attic.
The Attic Under the Sky has its inspirational starting point in the novel "The Wizards Childhood" by the German writer Herman Hesse - a book about the profound wisdom that lies in the childhood's imagination and fantasy.
THE HERALD (SCO) /

THE SCOTSMAN (SCO) /
"A charming dream-show, which uses live action and puppetry to explore the 20th-century memories and 21st-century fears. Gorgeous dream-imagery."
GLOS WIELKOPOLSKI (PL) /
"Truly in a class of it's own. A work combining scenes and images of great beauty, both from the dramatic and scenografic point of view."
