Penned 20 years before Trainspotting and Snatch, Berkoff's hard hitting urban drama is a sharp, affectionate and funny expose of life in London's East End.


Combining raw physical theatre and the intensity of language that veers from the sacred to the shatteringly profane, it bursts at the seams with both verbal and visual exuberance. Taking key scenes from the lives and recollections of his five characters, Berkoff builds a bleak portrait of stultifying ignorance, casual brutality and harsh sexual encounters.
