A roving rock performance featuring Mark Seymour, a cast of workers, the Trades Union Choir and some very heavy machinery.

Construction and building workers' greatest skills and experiences will be crafted and choreographed to build a roving rock performance which celebrates the strength and skill of builders in Melbourne who daily put their lives on the line and rightly proclaim "We built this city!" Directed by Donna Jackson, We Built This City features a cast of workers to form an industrial percussion ensemble coordinated by Mark Grunden, a rock band with anthems written and performed by Mark Seymour (Hunters & Collectors), the Trades Union Choir and a dance of heavy machinery set to a grunty line-up of electric guitars. We Built This City promises to rock Melbourne’s foundations. We Built This City is presented in the 888 Eight Hour Day: Celebrate 150 years of work, rest and play program of events.
