Combining circus with theatre in a thrilling new Australian musical, Life's a Circus is about points of decision in individual lives - and of no return in relationships.

Vivien and David are two Australian performers and friends working overseas on a circus tour, and when the youthful Alex joins their company, they both realise they may have finally found someone worth risking everything for.

The Magnormos Prompt! Musicals Program presents compact but potent performances of musicals that may otherwise not have the opportunity to be heard live in Australia.

The inaugural season was launched in 2007 as part of the 5th birthday celebrations of Magnormos. The season included the world premiere of Australian musical Love Equals (Craig Christie and Kristin Keam), the Australian professional premiere of Kander & Ebbs Broadway debut Flora the Red Menace, and the acclaimed production of Australian classic, Mary Bryant by Nick Enright and David King. In 2008 Magnormos presented The Thing About Men, by the writers of the highly successful I Love You, Youre Perfect, Now Change.

COMPOSER/LYRICIST: ANTHONY COSTANZO
Costanzo is one of Australias brightest musical theatre writers. He has twice been a finalist in the prestigious Pratt Prize for Music Theatre, and in 1995 wrote the winning song for the International Year of Tolerance competition. He has had winning entries in the 1998, 2000 and 2003 ASA National Song-writing Contests, and in 2004 had his original musical Boxed In produced by the Victorian College of the Arts.

WRITER: PETER FITZPATRICK
Professor Peter Fitzpatrick has an extensive list of writing credits including the screenplays for Brilliant Lies and Hotel Sorrento (AFI award), the novels Death in the Back Pocket and Promentory, and the musical Flowerchildren, The Mamas and Papas Story. Peter has been published widely as a critic and scholar in the field of Australian theatre, with more than fifty articles and papers to his name.
