ReviewsWas it just me...
... or was Majid Shokor brilliant in the monolgue role of the homeless guy with the dead baby in Two Shanks, the opening revival in the season of eight Daniel Keene plays that has just finished at The Dog Theatre in Footscray.
I had to see it twice to make sure. No reflection on the rest of the cast, but Shokor was riveting. I imagine it would be easy to hit false notes in this role, but these performances showed a beguiling command of presence, pause and restraint which transcended malfunctioning props and passing rail traffic.
Unfortunately, I missed seeing Shokor again in The First Train, the last day of which had to be cancelled. Never mind. The memory of the other luminous performances will long outlast that disappointment.
