Situated in a former factory, and gallery, in Flinders Lane, fortyfivedownstairs offers a home for innovative, original performance in music, dance, drama and physical theatre.
fortyfivedownstairs promotes and supports artists, while encouraging and supporting excellence. It aims to encourage innovation, new ideas and hybrid art forms, foster new talent and to give performers an opportunity to capitalise on work that has evolved through festivals and alternative theatre spaces.
 
 
fortyfivedownstairs is run principally as a specialised venue for hire offering facilities for:
·         exhibitions
·         performance in drama and physical theatre
·         events, functions and launches
·         forums, seminars and public debates
·         music performance including classical, jazz, improvisation, acoustic, chamber music, cabaret
·         dance
·         book reviews
 
 
In this  space, artists from different disciplines have the opportunity to meet and explore future collaborations and opportunities, broadening the range of arts options for audience and creators in the city of Melbourne and beyond.
