Robert Draffin unfolds the core practices of liminal, encountering the dimensions of time, space and texts, embedding the body in a moment to moment experience by engaging the corporeal through the imaginative. The practice strengthens the embodiment and sustainability of rhythmical, spatial and physical awareness as a performance practice.
PREPARATION Successful applicants are asked to come with a learnt monologue from a heightened text. Open to all artists on application with CV.

5 DAY ACTOR TRAINING -
THE UNFOLDING CHARACTER 30 APRIL - 4 MAY

A training workshop exploring how revelation of character emerges through the practices of the plastique, vertical unfolding, organics, poetic research and Jo Ha Kyu. The training will be applied to a translation of Anton Chekhov's THREE SISTERS as an imaginative encounter with text and the world of the play.
PREPARATION Successful applicants will be sent information prior to workshop for preparation. This workshop is open only to those artists who have previously taken part in Liminal workshops or have appropriate experience.

GREEK CHORUS WORKSHOP 14 - 20 MAY

This workshop involves the exploration of group organics, connection through song, body, text, spatial dynamic and rhythm within a poetic landscape. The chorus form comes from antiquity and unfortunately has become quite sanitised in its contemporary expression. This workshop explores a contemporary practice of chorus that tries to understand its links to traditional practices. The work will be applied to a chorus from Sophocles' OEDIPUS AT COLONUS.
PREPARATION Successful applicants will be sent information prior to workshop for preparation. This workshop is open only to those artists who have previously taken part in Liminal workshops or have appropriate experience.

The training in each workshop will be led by ROBERT DRAFFIN and members of LIMINAL Theatre and Performance at the Liminal Studio in the Abbotsford Convent.
