We Built This City at the Midsumma Festival
A public construction extravaganza. Using nothing but thousands of big cardboard boxes and the energy and ingenuity of kids and families, we build a magnificent city in one day.
Imagine a public arena filled with hundreds of cardboard boxes. Then invite kids and families to come in and build their own city. You can try to build anything you can think of, as tall or as wide as you like.
Throughout the day, buildings will go up, be pulled down, be redesigned, extended, walked through and jumped on, and reconstructed. At the end of the day, everybody can have fun knocking down and squashing the whole city into a recyclable heap of cardboard rubble.

Where: ArtPlay, Birrarung Marr, next to Federation Square, corner of Swanston and Flinders streets, Melbourne.
When: 28 January 2007
