The Store Room - Season 2006
24th Feb 2006
Under the Artistic Direction of Todd MacDonald and Ben Harkin, the venue and program have garnered audience and critical acclaim, and received numerous Green Room, Fringe and Comedy Festival awards including:

Best New Venue – Melb Fringe Festival 2000 and 2005
Best Newcomer Award – Melb International Comedy Festival 2001 and 2002
Outstanding Contribution to Melb Fringe - Green Room Awards 2001

The Store Room has also been at the forefront of the growth and cohesion of Melbourne’s Independent theatre scene, providing much advice and support to emerging artists and companies and encouraging collaboration between companies through joint programming initiatives with Red Stitch Theatre and the inaugural LOVE IT Independent Theatre Ball in 2004.

From 2003, The Store Room has focused its energies on supporting artists and providing audiences with the opportunity of experiencing an eclectic mix of new work from Melbourne’s most exciting independent theatre makers, through the presentation of its INSTORAGE season, Little Boxes Creative Developments and Reading Room script reading series.

To prepare for the next stage of the company’s exciting evolution, The Store Room will shift away from being a venue for hire and launch a season of new work with the support of Arts Victoria and a new initiative in the second half of 2006. This new program is aimed at providing direct support for the creation of new work in Melbourne’s burgeoning Independent Theatre Community, and follows on from the company’s very successful INSTORAGE Programme.

Stay tuned for more developments!
