Piano! will showcase the extraordinary diversity and range of the piano with some of the world’s great pianists as they explore and celebrate performances on the traditional, improvised, ruined, prepared and the toy piano.
It will feature two of the world’s leading and most exciting young pianists, Cedric Tiberghien (France), Nicholas Angelich (US), and Australian jazz greats Paul Grabowsky (Aus) and Joe Chindamo (Aus).
Margaret Leng Tan (US) is the foremost performer of contemporary piano music and is the world’s major virtuoso of the ‘toy’ piano and Ross Bolleter is an Australian avant-garde composer and improviser best known for his experimentation on ruined pianos.
Boris Berman (USA), Russian born Berman has been described as a ‘pianist's pianist’ and his highly acclaimed performances have included appearances with the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra, The Philharmonia (London), the Toronto Symphony, Israel Philharmonic, Minnesota Orchestra, Detroit Symphony, Houston Symphony, Atlanta Symphony, St. Petersburg Philharmonic, and the Royal Scottish Orchestra. Artist and Composer, Michael Kieran Harvey (Aus) is renowned for his performances of new music and has championed the works of Australian composers.
