'Miss K' in search of a new 'Captain Funk' for local and touring shows.
Captain Funk is Miss K’s long-suffering side kick, dragged through her many ill-fated adventures in the hope that one day she will give him the respect, recognition and maybe even love that he so desperately desires.In the mean time, he plays guitar, sings back-up, duet, beat box and even has his own song “The Captain’s Lament”.
Commitment: confirmed future shows are: Woodford Folk Festival, Dec 27 – Jan 2 2010, Adelaide Fringe Festival, 9 – 12 March 2010 and Mylor Hall (Adelaide Hills), 13 March 2010.
Further bookings will be made once the role is cast. Expect approx 2-3 local or regional shows before the year is out, many more in 2010.
Applicant must be able to take up to a week off work at a time for tours (2-3 times a year) and also available evenings and weekends for shows closer to home.
History: Miss K has completed the scripts for and toured three separate shows over the last three years. The first, Love War Faith and A Singing Telegram went from Melbourne, to Port Douglas, Brisbane, Lismore and Byron Bay before being laid to rest for a while. The second show, Il Mio Amore has played in Melbourne, Port Douglas, Woodford Folk Festival, Adelaide Fringe, Mylor Hall and then back in Melbourne as part of the EP launch for the soundtrack CD. Hot Spell, the third show has so far played Melbourne and Adelaide Cabaret Fringe Festival and will play Woodford at the end of the year and go back to Adelaide in March for Fringe. Il Mio Amore and Hot Spell will both be sold nationally and further down the track, internationally for the next couple of years.
Qualities sought: Professional; reliable; flexible; comic timing; acting abilities and able to take direction; able to play a wide variety of musical genres including funk, blues, old-school rap, jazz and rock; able to harmonize vocally; song-writing abilities for the future a plus; owns own instrument; able to enjoy the supporting role; able to memories short passages of dialogue; enjoys touring and meeting new people; a good sense of fun!
