Artistic Team
For SPX Waterdale Players Inc much anticipated musical for 2009 we are inviting you to put forth your expression of interest to come on board as a member of the Artist Team for Fame.

We are seeking enthusiastic individuals to step up to the positions of:

- Choreographer
- Director
- Musical Director
- Vocal Coach
- Production Manager
 

COMMON ARTISTIC TEAM RESPONSIBILITIES
- With the rest of the Artistic Team / Production Team, plan and attend auditions and ensure that casting decisions are made as per the SPX Waterdale Players mission statement and any relevant casting policies put in place by the committee.
- Being present at all auditions, required rehearsals, performances and SPX Waterdale Players events and the required number of set construction sessions.
- Together the rest of the Artistic Team, plan an efficient rehearsal schedule to be updated as the production develops.
- Identify and support any cast members who need individual attention.
- Motivate and manage the Cast to achieve the best possible production outcomes.
- Ensure regular communication with the relevant members of the production team in addition to attending regular meetings and actively reporting progress and issues that may arise.
- Ensure that behaviour among the relevant leading bodies is responsible and respectful to all members at all times. The Artistic Team are the leaders of the production, and therefore they must behave in a way that leads by example.
- Acknowledge that all creative works remain the property of their respective originator and will be credited accordingly; however SPX Waterdale Players Inc are permitted to use the originator's work for the duration of the rehearsal season and any full or partial performances of the show, irrespective of changes to or the cessation of the originator's involvement.
 

ROLE SPECIFIC DESCRIPTIONS
 

Choreographer
- Create movement and dance in the show to help illustrate the Director’s artistic vision and the script.
- Provide dance direction.
- Conduct dance rehearsals and dance training.
- Ensure that dance moves match the Musical Director’s interpretation of the score.
- Ensure compliance with OH&S policy in all aspects of the dance portfolio. This includes conducting physical warm-ups at the commencement of any dance activities.
 

Director
- Develop a complete artistic vision encompassing all areas of the production.
- Communicate the artistic vision to the production team and cast.
- Liaise with the production team to ensure the artistic vision is archived in all aspects of the production.
- Lead and inspire acting direction, movement, character development and interpretation of the script.
 

Musical Director
- Develop an interpretation of the score to enhance and illustrate the Director’s Artistic Vision.
- Conduct efficient and engaging singing rehearsals.
- Provide musical direction to the cast, including individual assistance when necessary.
- Liaise with the Director to ensure artistic vision continuity.
- Recruit, rehearse and conduct the band/orchestra, within the budgetary guidelines.
- Act as a liaison between the band/orchestra and the production team.
- Relay any pertinent SPX Waterdale Players Inc guidelines and policies to the band/orchestra.
- Ensure regular communication with the Sound Manager.
 

Vocal Coach
- Work with the Musical Director and Director to establish and maintain a vocal concept for the production that is consistent with the artistic vision.
- Host vocal warm-ups.
- Work with performers in groups and on an individual basis to develop posture, breathing, range, expression and other vocal techniques necessary for the production.
- Aim to maintain the vocal health of the cast particularly during the performance period.
- Have overall responsibility with the Musical Director for all vocal music in the show.
- Regularly liaise with the Musical Director particularly before and after singing rehearsals.
- Liaise with the choreographer and director to ensure that dance, movement and vocal requirements are compatible while not jeopardising the artistic vision.
 

Production Manager
- Assist the Producer in the appointment and management of supplementary production team roles and act as a liaison between them.
- Assist the Producer in the appointment and management of relevant technical personal and act as a liaison between them.
- Organise auditions for the production. This includes taking audition bookings and informing auditionees of requirements.
- Act as a central communication point for the cast and Production Team.
- Organise and minute regular Production Team meetings.
- Maintain an attendance record of the cast.
- Ensure that all cast and Production Team members have completed all required documentation.
- Ensuring that all relevant information is communicated in the hand-over to the Stage Manager at Bump-in.
- Assist in any other delegated tasks the producer may require.
