Duo Sol
Recognised as one of Australia’s premiere ensembles, the multi-award winning Duo Sol, Caroline Almonte (piano) and Miki Tsunoda (violin), perform with exhilarating energy, technical virtuosity and great sensuality, creating a remarkable rapport with the audience.
The Duo was awarded first prize at the prestigious Trieste International Chamber Music Competition in 1999 and consequently toured Italy and South America on numerous occasions. Renowned for their eclectic and innovative programming, whether playing the great standards of the duo repertoire or daring contemporary works, the ensemble instinctively reaches to the core of the music, presenting each one with precision and sublime expression. Their repertoire ranges from the classical period through to the contemporary music of Astor Piazzolla, Somei Satoh, Alfred Schnittke and John Adams, spanning three decades. The Duo also actively collaborates with Australian composers. “…a magnetic quality that draws the audience into a secret world" - Herald Sun, Melbourne “Two artists with their extraordinary exhibition of profound expression and communication have swept in a new breath of fresh air” - Il Piccolo
