Chunky Move
Chunky Move constantly seeks to redefine contemporary dance within an ever-evolving Australian culture. The company’s work is diverse in both form and content, including a number of works for the stage, site-specific projects in its home city of Melbourne, and new-media and installation work.

Current and recent works include: I Want to Dance Better at Parties, Wanted: ballet for a contemporary democracy, Closer , Tense Dave, Arcade, Clear Pale Skin, Live Acts, Bonehead, Zero, Hydra, Crumpled, Corrupted, and Wet.

Since its debut at the 1995 Melbourne Festival, Chunky Move has toured extensively throughout Australia and internationally, including the United States, Singapore, Hong Kong, France, Germany, Hungary, United Kingdom, Colombia, Japan, Belgium, Canada and Russia.

Chunky Move supports Australian dancers and choreographers through two programs: the In House program of daily classes, workshops and events held in the Company’s studios, and the Maximised by Chunky Move program that provides in-kind support to independent Victorian choreographers producing and presenting their own work.

“…ultra contemporary dance, kitsch and techno, poetic and furious. An incredible visual tornado” La Provence “…an exquisite, fluid exploration of the human psyche…Their performances are at times outrageously brilliant and ingeniously subtle.” - Melbourne Times
