Bambuco builds vast structures from bamboo. Each project is proposed as a performance. Bambuco take your public space away from you for a period then return it transformed.
The bamboo structures are taken away, leaving no physical trace. The public space will rarely look the same again ever. Bambuco invite people to ‘look again’ at something they thought of as familiar.
Bambuco make collaborative, site-specific works with aerialists, pyrotechnicians and others. Bambuco is more a phenomenon than a company. Members are rock climbers and artists from Australia, Europe, Russia and Asia, coming together as a varying group for each specific project. The core group is Australian and the company has a Belgium base – from which larger projects can be toured in Europe.
