Australian Vietnamese Youth Media aims to provide opportunities for Vietnamese and non-Vietnamese young people to learn, share, make and express themselves through various medium such as film, television, theatre, internet and other creative platforms
Australian Vietnamese Youth Media (AVYM) is a non-profit organisation founded in May 1995 at the Footscray Community Arts Centre.
AVYM aims to give Vietnamese-Australian youth a voice in the arts, media and creative industry and to provide a diversity of spaces (both physical and virtual) for them to express their ideas. They also want to provide a safe and supportive environment for Vietnamese and non-Vietnamese artists and youth to exchange ideas and develop new work, as well as networking opportunities between the professional art worlds and the community.
AVYM seeks to create employment opportunity for Vietnamese-Australian artists and a cross-cultural space for non-Vietnamese to engage with Vietnamese ideas and content.
