commonplace
commonplace is committed to presenting thought-provoking new theatre.

commonplace was established in 1985 by playwrights Bill Garner and Sue Gore.

In 2003, we presented The Ishmael Club in Trades Hall’s Old Council Chambers. The show sold out and was transferred by Playbox to the Malthouse in 2004, where it also sold out, and the season was extended.

The Ishmael Club received six Green Room Nominations. In 2002, we presented the critically acclaimed The Bull-Ant at Theatreworks.

In 1999, we presented The Terms & Grammar of Creation, another sell-out show, which received the Green Room Award for Outstanding Fringe Production.

Our most recent show, Billy Maloney, was presented at the North Melbourne Town Hall last December.

Planned for production in 2007 is a double bill of two short works — Company Share and Honey Grogan.
