You can also sign up for our eNews, and get regular updates, offers and other goodies delivered straight to your inbox every month.

How did Theatre Alive come about?

Theatre Alive was set up to help audiences find up-to-date information on shows, venues, and companies, along with special offers and reviews, and to help companies continue to thrive. By promoting attendance at live, small-scale performance, Theatre Alive will ensure that our small and independent companies become even better known.

Theatre Alive is a joint promotional platform, which also preserves the unique voice of each company. Theatre Alive is designed to promote the intimacy and immediacy of live performance, using the internet and word of mouth as key tools.

It was developed by Arts Victoria in response to the Government's arts policy Creative Capacity+, as well as calls from the sector, and various research reports including audience research. Creative Capacity+ supports new business and production models for small to medium companies, including new approaches to marketing.

Arts Victoria is the Victorian Government's arts funding and policy body. Arts Victoria supports the arts and cultural industries to encourage excellence, develop good ideas, build audiences, encourage participation and improve facilities. This support is delivered through a range of programs and initiatives aligned with the Government's ten-year arts policy, Creative Capacity+. A key focus of this policy is support for Victoria's small to medium companies.

Theatre Alive was made possible through the support of the Victorian Government through the Community Support Fund and Arts Victoria.
